Drug and Alcohol Certificate

The Drug and Alcohol Certificate is a dynamic, hybrid post-master's certificate that prepares counselors, social workers and other allied health professionals for work with relapsing, addicted clients and their families.

What Will I Learn?

You will learn how to apply relapse prevention methods, understand opiate addiction and medically assisted treatment, co-occurring approaches and the dynamics of addictive families.

What Kinds of Experiences Could I Have?

Each class has two face-to-face meetings on a Saturday, the first one meeting from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and then four or five weeks of online instruction followed by a second face-to-face meeting. Engaging discussion, written assignments and presentations along with outside activities are a part of the certificate.

You will be immersed in current approaches to relapse prevention and opiate addiction as you work through a relapse prevention workbook. You will watch videos on treatment approaches with co-occurring disorders and the work necessary with addictive families.

What Types of Careers Could I Get With This Degree?

You can utilize this post-master's training for work in a variety of treatment facilities (inpatient, outpatient, partial, private practice).
