2023 Baja SAE Team
MILTON AND DOREEN MORGAN SCHOOL OF ENGINEERING
The SAE BAJA team helps students with real-life engineering design and manufacturing experience. Students apart of this team will have the opportunity enhance their 3-D modeling, analysis, manufacturing, and project management skills. Students at Shippensburg University have the opportunity to participate in the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) annual international competition. Teams of mostly mechanical engineering students design, construct, and weld BAJA buggies and compete against 80 to 90 other teams from schools from around the world.

This competition provides them with real-world experience using engineering concepts that they learn at Ship. Over the course of a year, they modify their designs and make improvements to their BAJA buggy.

This competition is open to all Ship students, freshman through senior. They must speak to the team captain for approval to join the team.

Those who participate learn project management, leadership, budgeting, and real-world engineering skills. The Ship team also has the opportunity to collaborate with other teams who are willing to share resources.

Ship students are able to participate in this competition because of generous donations to the foundation. Give Now or Learn about Corporate Sponsorship Opportunities.

In 2024, the Ship Baja team was officially recognized as an official SAE Collegiate Chapter. Click here to find more information about SAE Collegiate Chapters

The next Baja SAE competition will be held in Mechanicsville, MD, in June 12-15, 2025. More information about Baja SAE can be found here.
