Sharing The Experience
As a community based clinic run by Shippensburg University student and faculty, we not only feel it is important to serve our surrounding community but to share the experiences of our clinic with the educational and professional community. It is our hope that other educational, professional, and community organizations or institutes can gain from the experiences from our community clinic. We have been afforded the opportunity to share our experiences about the clinic through presentations at the following professional conferences:
- NARACES: 2006, 2008
- President's Group: 2008
- ACES: 2009, 2010
- ACA: 2009, 2010
- PCA: 2009, 2010
- PSCA: 2009, 2010
The opportunity also exists to share the clinic's experiences and results through research. Growing Edges, as a community based clinic operated by students and faculty allows for the unique perspective of both clients and counseling students. Through very simple measures, we have gathered, and continue to gather, information for research in the following areas:
- Grief and loss support group members
- Grief and loss counseling students
