Provide Student Experiences
Today’s students benefit from hands-on learning. Show students what your career is like and help them apply what they’ve learned.
Experiential Learning
Job shadowing and internships provide students with practical hands-on experiences they are often unable to obtain in a classroom. The job market is competitive and shadowing and internships provide students an edge over their competition.
Host a Job Shadow Experience
The Job Shadow Program provides an opportunity for students to explore, firsthand, occupations that interest them. Student/s will be paired with a professional employed in their prospective occupation and will shadow them at their place of employment. The student will observe the responsibilities and tasks associated with your career and have the opportunity to ask questions about knowledge, skills, talents and level of education required for your job. The purpose of shadowing is to allow the student to gather career related information and expand their networking connections, it also allows them to build interviewing skills and become aware of trends in the field. Ship's job shadow program is typically one day in duration.
Provide an Internship
Internships integrate knowledge and theory learned in the classroom with practical application and skills gained working in a professional setting. Internships give students the opportunity to gain valuable applied experience and make connections in professional fields they are considering for career paths; and give employers the opportunity to guide and evaluate talent.
