Test Optional Policy

Policy Overview

An SAT or ACT test will not be required to complete your undergraduate application. All applicants who submit a high school transcript will receive full consideration for admission and scholarships. Applicants will not be penalized or otherwise disadvantaged if they do not submit and standardized test score with their admissions application. Shippensburg University will not review test scores as part of the admissions process even if we’ve received test scores for the student.

Exemptions to the test optional policy

• Applicants who are applying for the following programs may submit SAT/ACT scores to enhance opportunities for immediate admission into their desired program:
  • Software Engineering
  • Mechanical Engineering
  • Computer Engineering
  • Civil Engineering
  • Electrical Engineering
  • Computer Science
• International applicants who are non-native English speakers must submit an acceptable score on either the IELTS, TOEFL, or Duolingo. International students can also submit SAT/ACT scores.
