Checklist for Admitted International Students

Completing the application process and meeting all the deadlines can be stressful! From your first contact with Ship, you will quickly realize just how committed we are to your success and we have a strong reputation for helping students realize their full academic potential. From our advanced technology systems to undergraduate research opportunities, Ship can connect you with the latest ideas and resources in higher education.

Step 1: Submit Your I-20/Enrollment Confirmation Deposit. Please contact our Global Education Center at 1-717-477-1279 or email meburnett@ship.edu to begin this process.

International students are required to make a non-refundable I-20/Enrollment Confirmation Deposit of $100.00. This deposit will be used for your enrollment confirmation and for the processing  of your I-20 form. The deposit is payable to "Shippensburg University" and will confirm the intention of the student to become a matriculated student.

Once the deposit is received and processed, I-20 forms are issued within 5 business days and instructions are emailed to applicants to access the documents via their Admissions Portal.  Printed documents can be mailed at the expense of the applicant and Shippensburg University partners with E Ship Global for international mailing of documents.  Documents are only mailed if the applicant requests and pays for shipping via E Ship Global.

***You must access your I-20 Form and print a copy of it for your visa application and entrance into the United States.***

Admitted students may go to check your application status and enter the required information. After your News and Information page appears, click on Pay Advance Deposit. Note: Credit cards are accepted with a 2.5% convenience fee. Electronic Checks can also be drawn from your bank account at no charge. You will receive notification if payment has been completed, please keep for your records.

Step 2: Select your Method for Shipping the I-20, optional

Shippensburg University issues I-20 forms electronically.  The University does not pay for the shipping of documents, but you can pay for express mail using an online service that will allow you to receive your immigration documents through an express mail carrier.

Step 3: Activating your Ship Account and Email Address:

This is one of the most important steps that you must take during your transition to Shippensburg. Activating your account will allow you access your myShip portal, and once you have confirmed, your email correspondence from this point forward. Information on activating your account is available on your Application Portal.

Step 4: Using your Ship Account and Email

Students who have confirmed may access their Ship email account at http://mail.ship.edu and myShip at https://my.ship.edu. You will not be able to send or receive an email from your Ship account until you have accepted and confirmed your admission offer.

Step 5: Housing Options

Each new student is required to complete one of two housing options upon confirmation with Shippensburg University. Undergraduate International students must live on-campus and need to complete the housing agreement and submit a non-refundable housing deposit of $200.

Graduate International students are eligible for on-campus housing but it is not guaranteed.  Questions should be directed to housing@ship.edu. Off-campus housing options are available.

Step 6: Final Transcript

A favorable admission decision is based upon the student's qualifications at the time of the offer and is contingent upon his or her maintaining those standards through graduation from the secondary school. The student must request the final transcript (including date of graduation) be sent to the Office of Admissions. Failure to submit a final transcript will result in a hold on the applicant's file.

Placement Testing: Placement testing may be required in English, reading, mathematics, and foreign language. The Placement Testing Office will provide the applicant with notification of test dates and which exams must be completed, after admission.

Step 7: Paying your Semester Bill

Your Shippensburg University bill will be available electronically to you at myShip. You will not receive a paper bill in the mail. Students will receive an email, at their Shippensburg University email address, when the semester bill is available. Please contact the Student Accounts Office with any questions.
