Doctorate in Counselor Education and Supervision (EdD)
The EdD in Counselor Education and Supervision is designed to develop expertise in advanced practice and clinical supervision.
This part-time program will primarily serve license-eligible and licensed professional counselors who aspire to advance their professional knowledge and standing across advanced practitioner, clinical supervisory, counselor educator, and leadership positions in Pennsylvania and beyond.
The EdD in Counselor Education and Supervision (EdD CES) builds upon a minimum requisite 48-credit master’s degree in counseling. Approved background includes but is not limited to: clinical mental health, school K-12 counselor, college counselor, family and marriage therapist, and college student personnel.
Flexible Coursework
This professional doctoral is designed on a cohort model with members taking all core courses and practicum and internships together over a three-year period. Additional time will be required to complete and defend dissertation research and complete the degree.
- Part-time program allows for full or part-time employment while earning the doctoral degree.
- Coursework offered both online and face-to-face.
- Face-to-face classes on Saturdays at the Dixon University Center, Harrisburg, and at Shippensburg University.

- Master’s degree in counseling or related discipline from a regionally accredited institution; CACREP-accredited preferred but not required
- Official transcripts from all undergraduate degrees and graduate degrees

- Narrative statement of a clearly articulated career direction including how the pursuit of and the accomplishment of this degree will be a necessity for attaining career objectives.
