Graduates!

Spring 2023

"The Noyce Scholarship was an unexpected joy. Choosing to be a Noyce Scholar was one of the best decisions I made during my undergraduate years. Being a Noyce Scholar provided me with unique opportunities than the typical pre-service math teacher experience. I was able to be a part of useful and relevant professional developments that gave me insights into the needs of students in high-needs districts. The most meaningful experience associated with the scholarship was the variety of placements I participated in during my student teaching. I had the privilege of student teaching in two high-needs school districts, one rural and one urban. My first placement was in an urban district where I got to see how trauma affects the classroom and how to adapt not only my lessons but classroom management accordingly. When placed in the rural district, I had to quickly adjust to fit the needs of this new group of students. In the rural district I was able to focus on building student relationships in the classroom as well as working with a new curriculum." -Riana Peters, '23
