Information for Employers
Internships in the College of Arts and Sciences are not as centralized as in other colleges at the university. Rather than primarily a job opportunity or a practicum, internships in the college provide an out-of-classroom learning experience.
Departments within the college often have specific learning objectives that they want internships to meet. If you are an employer interested in offering internships to Arts and Sciences students, your first contact should be the departmental contacts listed below. They can work with you in identifying students who fit your needs while at the same time making sure that the internship meets the students' educational goals.
Contact any of the departmental representatives if you have questions about a specific internship you have available. Other questions about internships? Email the College of Arts and Sciences at cas@ship.edu.
Note: students are required to have their internships arranged and have all paperwork completed at the beginning of the semester, so please plan ahead for internship opportunities and openings if possible. Fall deadline: August 15; spring deadline: January 15; summer: June 1.
Employers interested in providing an internship experience for Shippensburg students in the Arts and Sciences should complete the internship request form and email it to cas@ship.edu.
Please also download our internship application, which students complete. It contains information on the front page regarding agreements between the employer and the university.
If you are from the private sector and are offering an unpaid internship, please see this important document from the Department of Labor: "Fact Sheet #71: Internship Programs under the Fair Labor Standards Act."
