STUDENT RESOURCES & CAREER NETWORKING
Make use of the resources below to enhance your outcomes in the classroom, in your internship, and through participation in co-curricular clubs and organizations that are actively involved in service-learning and research.
Course Advising & Scheduling
There is a mandatory scheduling meeting (for Winter/Spring 2024 classes) for all Sustainability, Geoenvironmental Science, and Geography-GIS majors on Thursday, October 19th, at 3:30 pm. Please come to Roland 200 to eat cookies, catch up with friends and professors, and learn about upcoming courses, internships, and other academic opportunities.
Remember, students MUST meet with their advisor to discuss progress to date, future plans, and to receive scheduling PINS.
Internships & Career Networking
The department's annual career networking day will be held on Thursday November 3rd, 2022. Career day is your chance to network with friends of the department who can give you advice on career options, the skills and courses you should take at SU to make yourself the most marketable candidate, and other general career ideas. In some instances participants may have information on specific jobs / internships that are now open or that are anticipated to be in the future.
INTERNSHIPS: An internship is an important part of your degree program! Visit our internship page to find out the process for signing up and receiving credit for your internship.
CAREER NETWORKING: Students pursue internships and careers along several paths that include a wide range of organizations, including:
Federal Government | State Government | Local and Regional Government | Consulting and Private Firms | Non-profit Organizations
The Department has an extensive network of alumni and supporters across these areas that provide career guidance as well as opportunities for internships or employment when appropriate positions are available. The Department’s annual Career Day provides students with direct access to this network and real-world advice for planning an internship and/or permanent employment.
