International Business Concentration
Firms, large and small, have the opportunity to participate in worldwide business ventures, whether through exporting, importing, international trade, or by manufacturing or setting up service operations overseas. Ship’s international business concentration extends your knowledge of business, management, marketing, finance, and economics to the global arena. The program provides training in a broad range of management and business theories and skills relevant to international operations.
The international business concentration at Shippensburg University supplements the core business curriculum with courses that extend your knowledge of business, management, marketing, finance, and economics to the global arena while familiarizing you with various world cultures, religions, and societies. Proficiency in a foreign language is a requirement of the international management major. Although studying abroad is not a program requirement, it is strongly recommended that international business students take advantage of study abroad opportunities to development language skills and enhance their awareness of cultural and business practice differences. In addition to being qualified for entry-level positions in U.S. firms, our graduates have taken management trainee positions in U.S. subsidiaries of foreign firms such as BMW, Royal Dutch Shell, and Unilever.

The undergraduate Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration in Management requires the completion of a minimum of 120 credit hours in the following areas:
- General Education Courses: All students are required to complete the university's general education program, which provides a balanced liberal arts foundation.
- Business Core Curriculum: Accounting majors take the same core curriculum as other business majors. This core includes economics, finance, information systems, marketing, organization behavior, and business law as well as other business subjects.
- International Management Courses: A sequence of courses for International Management majors that provides the necessary technical knowledge with respect to tools, techniques, and concepts. There is also a 12-credit modern language requirement. International Management Courses.
The John L. Grove College of Business has a number of clubs for students to participate in and learn more about their area of study outside the classroom. Student Professional Organizations provide a variety of opportunities for students to develop professional contacts, enhance their course of study with hands-on application, and build lasting friendships within the business community. The International Business Club provides students with professional networking opportunities in the international business arena and the club sponsors an annual International Business Study Abroad Expo.
