Using Anchor to Access Your Files
Ship offers a service called Anchor that allows you to access network files and documents from off campus or the residence halls on your PC, Mac, or mobile device. Anchor works with both the S: and T: drives, providing you with access to department files and personal files you would normally access from a campus computer.
Log on to Anchor (anchor.ship.edu)
** Use your FULL @ship.edu email address and password
Student Files
Ship students using campus computer labs are used to their My Documents folder following them around. That is the My Documents folder content is available no matter what campus computer you log on to. Anchor allows you to access these files from any Internet-connected device with a web browser. Just go to https://anchor.ship.edu and log on with your Ship email address and password when prompted!
Please note that you cannot edit files in Anchor directly. You must first download the files you want to your device, make changes, and then upload the new files to Anchor. These files will then appear in your My Documents folder (or T: drive) next time you use a campus computer.
Anchor will also allow you to access any files that your professors may upload to shared folders on the S: drive.
Employee Files
Faculty & staff at Ship may access both the S: drive (departmental folders) and T: drive (personal files). To access Anchor, simply go to https://anchor.ship.edu on any Internet-enabled device with a web browser. Log on with your Ship email address and password when prompted!
Please note that you cannot edit files in Anchor directly. You must first download the files you want to your device, make changes, and then upload the new files to Anchor. These files will then appear in the S: or T: drive the next time you use a campus computer.
Using FTP to Access Your Files
Those who are familiar with FTP applications for file access can also use these applications for network file access.
FTP Server Address
- Students: stufiles.ship.edu
- Faculty/Staff: files.ship.edu
Use your Ship username and password for authentication with FTP. As with Anchor, files must be downloaded to your computer, edited, and then uploaded to the server for changes to be made since FTP doesn't allow for direct editing of files.
