Overview
This guide will show you how you can enable your students to see their final calculated grades manually. This is known as releasing the final grade in D2L and is usually setup automatically during the gradebook setup wizard by enabling the option to Automatically release final grades when choosing which final grade to release (Calculated or Adjusted Final Grade). However, occasionally you will need to manually release these grades if for example the automatically release final grades option wasn't enabled prior to grading one of the grade items.

Releasing Final Grades
1. Click Grades in the course navbar.
2. Click Manage Grades.
3. Locate the Final Calculated/Final Adjusted Grade item in the list of grade items and click the down arrow to the right of either option. Note that performing the next step under either option will take you to the same location.
4. Click Enter Grades.
5. Now select all users by clicking on the square to the left of the Last Name, First Name column header.
6. Once selected, click the Release/Unrelease button.
7. This will check the box to the right of each student under the Release column. Click Save and Close
The final calculated grade is the system generated grade based on all the grade items you've created for the course. So if a student eared 50 points out of a possible 100 points across all grade items in the course their final calculated grade would display as 50/100 and/or 50% depending on what you've elected to release to them. The final adjusted grade is blank by default but allows you to manually enter a final grade for the student or copy the final calculated grade in order to modify it manually.

Modifying the Final Grade Released Options
1. Click Grades in the course navbar.
2. Click Settings in the top right of the screen.
3. Click on the Calculations Options tab.
4. Scroll down until you see Final Grade Release heading. Select either Calculated Final Grade or Adjusted Final Grade.
Note: The option to automatically release final grades is a good thing to check but is best done prior to entering any grades. This option will automatically release whichever option you select so that students can see it. Remember that this does not mean that the grade is released in Banner as you would at the end of the semester. It only means that students can see this value in their D2L gradebook.
