Creating a New Announcement

 

1.  From the Course Homepage, click the down arrow to the right of Announcements.


2.  Click New Announcement.


3.  Enter the Headline.


4.  Enter the announcement message in the Content field.


5.  OPTIONAL: Inserting stuff, images, or links into the announcement Message.

  1. Insert Stuff:  This button will let you upload files and provide a variety of other options to insert various items into the announcement.

  2. Insert Images:  Use this option to insert images into the announcement.

  3. Insert Link:  Use this option to insert links to both external sources and quicklinks to course tools.


6.  OPTIONAL:  Set the availability of the announcement.  The Start date is when the announcement will become available for students to view.  The End date is optional and is when the announcement will become unavailable for viewing.


7.  OPTIONAL:  You can add a file, record audio, or record video which can be attached to the announcement.  This is different than insert stuff as this file will not appear in the main body of the message but rather as a file attachment at the end.  It's useful for recording a video or audio announcement on the fly.


8.  OPTIONAL:  Set release conditions if you want to limit the availability of this announcement to a select group of students.


9.  Click Publish or Save as Draft

  • Publishing the announcement will make it available to students right away unless you've setup a start date under step 6 at which point publishing will just set it to be released on that start date.

  • Save as Draft will keep the announcement hidden even if you've set a start date.
