The Kauffman Gallery
Whether you are studying art or you simply enjoy browsing the artwork of others, our gallery is the right place for you. The Kauffman Gallery is named for Gertrude Kauffman, chairperson of the art department at Shippensburg University from 1937 to 1970.
Visual Appeal
We present a diverse array of visual art exhibitions throughout the calendar year, from nationally and regionally recognized artists, to exhibitions by our Art & Design Department faculty and students. Our goal is to bring quality visual art to the Cumberland Valley. We're passionate about visual art that is challenging and expands our sense of self, community and the world in which we live.
All Kauffman Gallery exhibitions and receptions are free to the public. The gallery is located in the Huber Art Center.

Online Exhibit: November 25, 2024 - March 1, 2025
A regional art competition for High School juniors and seniors in 20 Pennsylvania and 2 Maryland counties. $1,000.00 in cash awards are presented. This exhibition is sponsored by the Art & Design Department of Shippensburg University.
Spring 2025
Exhibit Dates: January 29 - February 27, 2025; Opening Reception, Wednesday, January 29, 6:30 - 8:30 pm.
Spring Senior Exhibit
Kauffman Gallery Exhibit Dates: Opening Reception Artists speak about their work at 1:30 pm.
Senior art and design majors present their finest work, in a variety of media, in this exhibition. The exhibit is selected by the SU Art & Design faculty.
2025 - 47th Annual SU Juried Student Art Exhibit
This juried exhibit is selected by judges "outside" of the SU community. SU undergraduate students submit up to five pieces of their finest art for a "real world" competition. Judges select both the exhibit and the award winners. Media typically found in this exhibit includes: Ceramics, Digital Fine Art Printing, Drawing, Graphic Design, Mixed Media, Painting, Photography, Printmaking, and Sculpture
