What Will I Learn?
You will learn interpersonal communication, interpretive listening, interpretive reading as well as oral and written presentations in Spanish. In addition, you will learn about the cultures of the Spanish-speaking world including the products, practices and perspectives. Critical thinking, problem solving and cultural awareness are also other student learning outcomes of the program.
What are the requirements for this degree?
To earn a Bachelor of Arts in Spanish, you must complete 36 credits of Spanish courses on top of other requirements.

What Kinds of Experiences Could I Have?
All courses are designed following the American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages (ACTFL) National Standards and they are conducted in Spanish. Class sizes are also small so we can provide students with a truly one-on-one learning experience.
In this major, you have access to:
- A multimedia language learning center
- Communication with native speakers
- A large collection of literature and media concerning Spanish language and culture
Study abroad opportunities are available and Spanish majors are encouraged to study at least one semester in a Spanish-speaking country.
Internships are also great for experience and building your resume. Spanish majors find internships with social service agencies, museums, businesses, community organizations and in government.
You may also consider joining the Spanish Club, which allows you to practice the Spanish language and learn about Hispanic culture through trips, events and more. Students may also seek membership in the Spanish honor society, Sigma Delta Pi. Joining either group looks great on a resume.
