Federal Direct Graduate Plus Loan

The Federal Direct Graduate PLUS Loan is available only to students enrolled in a Graduate Program. As a graduate student, you may borrow a PLUS loan up to the total cost of education less any current financial aid/resources awarded, which includes the Federal Direct Student Loan (unsubsidized), Graduate Tuition, Fee and/or Housing waivers.

To process your PLUS loan application, Shippensburg University must have the results of your FAFSA on file.

On or after April 15 every year, you may apply for a PLUS loan for the upcoming school year. Steps to follow:

Go to https://studentaid.gov
Click on the ‘In School’ tab
Click on ‘Apply for a PLUS Loan for Graduate School’
You will be directed to Log In using your FSA ID and password.
Complete your application for the Graduate PLUS loan. Shippensburg University will receive an electronic notification about the status of your application.

All PLUS applications are subject to a credit check. Credit on an approved PLUS loan is valid for a 180-day period. If the loan is approved, you will need to:

All students with approved PLUS loans must complete a PLUS Master Promissory Note (MPN). Complete this requirement online at https://studentaid.gov/ on the ‘In School’ tab. Select ‘Complete a Loan Agreement (MPN), then select PLUS MPN for Graduate/Professional Students.
