Chi Alpha Epsilon
Honor Society
INTRODUCTION
All Academic Success Program students have an opportunity to join a distinguished academic honor society while attending Shippensburg University. Chi Alpha Epsilon (XAE), Gamma Chapter, was established at Shippensburg University in March 1993. Initially, eight students and one honorary member were inducted. Honor society induction ceremonies occur every Fall semester as new students become eligible to join.
PURPOSE
Chi Alpha Epsilon was formed to recognize the academic achievements of students admitted to colleges and universities through non-traditional criteria. Its purpose is to promote continued high academic standards, foster increased communication among its members and honor academic excellence for those students admitted to college via developmental programs. The involvement of eligible alumni enables networking for members. Programs sponsored by the society encourage other students toward this accomplishment.
MEMBERSHIP
Membership in Chi Alpha Epsilon, Gamma Chapter is offered to eligible Shippensburg University Academic Success Program students every Fall semester.
Students who hold at least a 3.0 cumulative G.P.A. for two consecutive semesters (i.e. Fall 2010 and Spring 2011) and who were admitted to Shippensburg University via the Academic Success Program are eligible for membership. An initiate data form must be filled out by potential members, and a current copy of the potential members' transcripts must be submitted to an ASP staff member before joining.
